ABSTRACT

Lithium tantalate (LiTaO3) is one of the most excellent functional materials due to its outstanding physical properties such as its piezoelectric, electro-optical, pyroelectric and photo-refractive properties. In this work, LiTaO3 was synthesized by the sol-gel method. The sol-gel method is a very flexible method for obtaining metal oxides. The LiTaO3 precursors obtained were annealed at 750 °C for 12 hours. The two different ball-milling times are 36 hours and 72 hours prepared by using high energy planetary ball- milling. The different ball- milling time gives the effects on morphology and crystal structure properties of LiTaO3. The morphology and crystal structure were studied using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM).
