Different compositions of Bai_xSr1 iO3 were prepared by solid state reaction using BaCO3, SrCO3 and TiO, as the starting materials. The effect of sintering process, by varying the sintering temperature as well as the soaking time; on the microstructure and dielectric properties of Ba 1SrxTiO3were investigated. The dielectric properties of Ba1-xSrx1103 (x = 0.15, 0.30 and 0.45) as a function of sintering temperature (1300 and 1350°C) and soaking time (1 and 3 hours) were measured. Phase analysis and microstructure analysis were carried out by XRD and SEM. Ba020Sr0.30TiO3 which sintered at 1300°C for 3 hours show the highest dielectric constant value. Formation of exaggerated grain growth is seen in Ba 1,Sr rTiO3 sintered at 1350°C for 3 hours; however this phenomenon is composition dependent, increment of Sr content in Ba 1,SriiO3 helps to suppress exaggerated grain growth.
